The
relentless efforts of university for achieving academic excellence have been
recognized at national level, the UGC has Sanctioned Academic Staff College to
this University in March 2009. Academic Staff College has developed the vision,
mission and set goals and objectives aligned to UGC ASC guidelines / norms. The
ASC ,GGV envisages to propagate the values of quality education and train the
teachers to become intellectually enlightened, morally upright, emotionally
balanced, socially committed, patriotic, eco-friendly and accomplished, and
sensitive to the demands and the needs of the students in their journey towards
achieving the goals and objectives of higher education. Academic Staff College
is effectively functioning to cater the needs both of technical and non
technical staff of Universities / Colleges.
The new ASC has been established with a limited infrastructure, classroom,
laboratory and library facility for initiating the progrmmes of ASC. The staff
was deployed from the University to ASC. The ASC has been temporarily
facilitated with a seminar hall, E-class room, ICT laboratory, Central Library,
guest house etc. for conducting its programmes as scheduled. With the available
resources and staff, ASC has conducted 2 Orientation Programmes, 1 Refresher
Course, 3 Short Term Courses, and 1 training on Professional development for non
teaching technical staff of group 'B' and 'C' employees falling under UGC norms.
The ASC has started developing it's own guest house facilities, establishing
Computer laboratory, Library and renovating the class rooms. Besides, the ASC
has initiated digitizing the database of programmes. The dynamic web site is
maintained by ASC under the University web site portal (www.ggu.ac.in). It is
planning to develop its own web site in near future. The newly borne ASC has
adopted unique practices of communication to improve the efficiency and fulfill
the demands of programmes. The ASC has introduced innovative ways to communicate
the participants and resource persons for rapid dissemination of information
about scheduled trainings. The participants and resource persons came from
different parts of the country. ASC has conducted needful exercises to maintain
the quality of training programme. The feedback received from the participants
and resource persons were analyzed and evaluated, the quality of the Orientation
Programmes (OP), Refresher Course (RC) and Short term course (SC) was rated as
very good to good. None of the participants showed any kind of dissatisfaction.
The ASC has also conducted two Advisory committee meetings in 2009-10 and 2010-11
respectively. The advisory committee monitored the academic, administrative and
financial activities of ASC. The Committee was satisfied with organization of
programmes and also given positive feedback to ASC. The valuable suggestions
were given to ASC to increase its functional efficiency. The committee suggested
to fill the vacant posts and also develop the infrastructure for undertaking a
variety of training programmes. To this effect, the University has filled the
vacant posts of Professor -Director and Assistant Professor. The process of
filling the remaining vacant post in full swing and will be completed in short
duration. The committee also suggested to establish and create a state of
art facilities of ICT, Computer laboratory and Library to maintain
norms and standards of ASC as per the guidelines of UGC.
