GGV Pyau Sewa (GPS)

A Hydration Initiative for Health and Harmony

Introduction

In an academic environment serving over 10,000 students and 1,000 staff members, the importance of health and welfare services cannot be overstated. One of the most impactful and humane initiatives among the 22 welfare schemes at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV) is the GGV Pyau Sewa (GPS). Launched in May 2023, this scheme offers access to clean drinking water and nutritional supplements during peak summer months.

The idea took shape after a first-year student fainted outside the central library due to heat exhaustion. Fellow students came together to help, and in a conversation with NSS volunteers, the consensus emerged: hydration stations were a necessity. From that need grew an institution-wide movement of compassion and service.
