Rakt Sambandh Sanskar Yojana

A Lifeline of Compassion and Community Care

Introduction

Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), with over 10,000 students and 500+ faculty members across 33 departments, launched the Rakt Sambandh Sanskar (RSS) Yojana in January 2025. The scheme ensures timely blood availability for students, faculty, staff, and their families, arising from an emergency that highlighted the need for a structured blood donation network.

Objectives
  • Ensure timely availability of blood for GGV students, faculty, staff, and families.
  • Cultivate a culture of voluntary blood donation and health awareness.
  • Partner with certified blood banks to streamline collection and distribution.
  • Support individuals with diseases like thalassemia, hemophilia, anemia, cancer, and sickle cell.
Services Offered
  • Monthly on-campus blood donation drives.
  • Emergency response for blood requirements.
  • Collaboration with Ashirwad, Balaji, and Hanswahini Blood Banks.
  • Donor certification and health record maintenance.
Volunteer Engagement
  • Nodal Coordinator: Prof. Dilip Jha.
  • Departments involved: Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, and Pharmacy.
  • Core team: 6 teacher volunteers and 30 trained student volunteers.
  • Responsibilities: Camp organization, logistics, donor management, and follow-up.
Activities and Outreach
  • January 2025: Over 100 donations at Balaji Blood Bank.
  • February 2025: Over 150 units donated to Hanswahini Blood Bank.
  • March 2025: 160+ donations for Ashirwad Blood Bank.
  • Certificates distributed to all donors as appreciation.
