DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE OF ZOOLOGY

Department at a Glance

The department of Zoology was established in 2009 after up-gradation of the University as a Central University. The vision to develop this department is to provide quality science education and ignite the mind of the young students towards the molecular aspects of the basic science which could provide the rational for investigation examining the therapeutic potential through research activities. To develop state-of-art teaching and research programme in this area a five year (10 Semester) Integrated UG/PG and two years (four semester) M Sc. Course in Zoology has been started. Selections are done through an all India Vishwavidyalaya Entrance Test (VET). Many innovative teaching practices are the highlights of the program. Students are assessed and evaluated throughout the semester by a continuous system of tests, seminars, assignments, mid and end-semester examinations. The Department has been giving focus on developing Experimental Skills through live experimental designs, both by UG & PG students. Department also nurture to the student and ignite their mind for update of knowledge with the facility of departmental library. A rich collection of reference book and online journals are available in central library and being accessed by the faculty and students.
