In the era of Globalisation
economics has emerged as the most signifcant and relevent field of study.
Accordingly the Department of Economics established in 1989 has the vision to
produce the best economist and financial analyst for the academic and corporate
world. In this endeavour, quality teaching is the most important objective of
the Department. Besides, academicians and eminent economist are frequently
invited to interact with faculty and students on relevant issues. The Department
is actively engaged in research and developmental activities. Through primary
survey & research we have been providing inputs to policy makers,
administrators and industrialist. Apart from Central Library, department has
its own enriched departmental library which is easily accessible to students.
Seminars,
Group discussions, Paper & Article writing, Project writing, Quiz
programmes are the regular features over here. Many students have published
their research works in various journals of repute and also qualified for NET
& SLET. Many have been awarded Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship.
It is
also worth mentioning that Department of Economics has organized a number of
Seminars, Conferences & Workshops on emerging issues, UGC Golden Jubilee
National Seminar, First Annual Conference of Chhattisgarh Economic Association
and Three Day’s National Workshop on Advanced Research Methodology and Computer
Applications in Social Sciences, Workshop on the Women Entrepreneurship
Programme, are notable among them. The Department has contributed significantly
in enterpreneurship development. Passing out students have an excellent
placement record and are able to secure jobs in different colleges of various
states, reputed companies & owned their own business.
The Department has young and highly motivated faculty members from reputed institutes across India. We are proud that our collective enthusiasm which is continuously generating a good number of bright students.
